Internet access using MyVends cellular modem
Beginning 7/1/2025 we will be allowing internet access through the MyVends modem installed in your machines. There will be a 30 day grace period for you to test devices and see what costs you might incur and billing for data will start as of 8/1/2025.
Previously this access was restricted due to cost and bandwidth limitations for data but over the past year we have upgraded your equipment and connectivity which allows us to provide this functionality.
Each machine will have a data allowance which will be included in your monthly billing and there will be no change to your cost as long as you stay within the 1gb allowance. Any additional data used will be billed at a cost of $1 for 100mb blocks (1c / mb ).
You are provided a clear, real time view of the data usage and cost displayed on your Dashboard and in the Data Usage report.
FAQ
- The1gb allowance is more than adequate for all your monitoring needs and if no other device is connected to the modem there is no risk of data usage exceeding this allowance.
- We will have a 3gb per billing cycle limit set per device to prevent inadvertently incurring excessive charges. The modem and monitoring services will be disabled until the next billing cycle.
- Wireless and wired connectivity is available on the modem and devices connecting to the modem will be your responsibility and any data usage may incur additional cost billed separately at the end of the month.
- We cannot provide tech support for 3rd party devices connected to the modem.
- The modem or any devices connected are not exposed to the internet via an IP address. The modem is secured behind a VPN and cannot be accessed intentionally or unintentionally.
- We cannot offer a static IP address or support DDNS since there is no public IP address.
- The billing cycle is from the 1st of the month to the last day of each month.
- If you have your own internet service the modem can use that service through a wired or wireless connection. The cellular service will remain functional as a backup. No discounts are available even if you use no cellular data for a month.
- Viewing or using MyVends functionality from your computer or phone does not consume any data.
- Viewing live images or streaming cameras through a 3rd party app or on MyVends does consume data and accounts for the most consumption of data.
- TTIClub interactions use inconsequential amounts of data
- The monitoring system does use data and the amount will depend on how busy your machine is but the average is about 300mb/month (⅓ of 1Gb).
- Once data has been consumed there is very little we can do to reverse charges as these have already been incurred, so please pay attention to the data consumed value displayed on your dashboard.
